Actual contract value not disclosed, but the one-year contract said to be a “seven figure” sum as reported by Space News. Per current analysis, Planet needs to secure competitiveness for U.S government contracts which may well become its primary revenue source in future when international companies’ launch their constellations backed by lower operating costs. However given Planet’s FY 2024 yearly domestic revenue was $98.7, it is difficult for determine if this contract is material to Planet’s total domestic-sourced revenue. However getting U.S. Government work must be shown as a positive that Planet was able to at least for this work out compete Blacksky and Maxar.
Still waiting for 2025 Q1 quarterly results to be reported (June 6, 2024) to see if any progress made on this front (and more importantly cost control).
